High Peak Cottage - Things To Do

The millstone grit village of Tintwistle, 2 miles from Glossop, often dubbed the "Gateway to the Peaks", is skirted on three sides by the Peak District National Park and is renowned for the moorlands of the Dark Peak. Accessed via the infamous Snake Pass, this most attractive area houses some fine 17th and 18th Century cottages. Bottoms Reservoir is in the centre of the village, providing the perfect setting for a leisurely stroll.

Follow Doctor's Gate Roman road to Kinder Scout and Edale, the start of the Pennine Way, or the Snake Pass to Ladybower and Derwent Reservoirs, where the famous Dambusters Squadron practiced. The nearby bustling town of Glossop provides plentiful shops, pubs and restaurants together with a superb 18 hole golf course and is surrounded by some of the most magnificent Peak District scenery. With the pretty spa town of Buxton and the picturesque Hope Valley, home to Castleton Castle and Caves, both within easy reach, this is a wonderful location offering plenty to see and do.

For ideas on where to eat try the Local Public House "The Bulls Head" it's 2 minutes walking distance from the cottage.
